Jazz Musician Jon Barnes, who just returned from a European tour this month hit the ground running with a string of upcoming events to keep his music and horn tooting away with great sounds. This week he plans to visit his friend Arturo Sandoval and ARTURO SANDOVAL’s MAMBO MANIA BIG BAND at the Hollywood Bowl, Wednesday, July 30, 2013. Later he plans to be in studio with some legendary musicians such as Sandoval and top R&B and Pop singers for a tribute song to be recorded in a North Hollywood music studio. Details later.
Sandoval has been awarded four Grammys, six Billboard Awards, and an Emmy, the latter for his composing work on the entire underscore of the HBO movie based on his life, For Love or Country starring Andy Garcia. He is one of the most dynamic and vivacious live performers of our time, and has recently been seen by millions in the Grammy Awards performing with pop-phenomenon Justin Timberlake as well as on the Latin Billboard Awards with the gifted Alicia Keys, where he was awarded his sixth Billboard Award for Best Latin Jazz Album.
Barnes, who is has a one of kind trumpet in the world, manufactured by daCarbo, a Swiss-made, carbon fiber trumpet, which not only makes it a lighter instrument, but also carries a smooth jazz sound. “This is a new trumpet,” Barnes said with his usual passion. “It is a carbon fiber bell, which is lighter and has a smoother sound,” Barnes explained.
The daCarbo trumpet bell is made entirely of carbon fiber and the trumpet body is a Spiri Vario. The carbon fiber bell can be changed with a regular brass bell designed for a Spiri Vario. It’s lighter and has a unique sound.
The world-wind European tour was sponsored by Monster Cable at the daCarbo Jazz Festival. It also featured Arturo Sandoval, lead vocalist, Skip Martin of Kool and the Gang. and “A Tribute to Louis Armstrong Jon Barnes von Earth Wind & Fire LIVE erleben in Bärnbach” at the event.
Earlier, prior to the tour, Barnes and fellow musicians and friends offer workshops for students learning music on brass instruments and many attended the Jazz festival at Baernbach, which features some of the most fascinating scenery and culture in the world.
The tour was also being filmed as a documentary. He has managed to create his own music curriculum, Kids Music Corner.com, which allows children to learn about music while simulating the playground experience.
